Instrument Background

The Clavinet D6, invented by German innovator Ernst Zacharias in the 1950s, has become one of the most celebrated keyboards in rock and pop history. Originally conceived as a portable harpsichord, it evolved into a staple of the music scene, prominently featured in hits like Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" and frequently appearing in the funky soundtracks of the 1970s. Its distinctive sound has been utilized in various media, particularly in police dramas of the late 20th century, where it provided a distinctive backdrop alongside bass and drums. The D6 is notable for its ability to emulate electric guitar sounds and is compatible with typical guitar effects such as wah-wah, distortion, phaser, and chorus. This versatility is due to its design, which incorporates 60 strings and dual humbucker pickups akin to those found in electric guitars.

The GSi Model D6 harnesses the same underlying code as its predecessors, including the GSi Gemini and Crumar Seven, as well as the Crumar Mojo 61. This model incorporates additional parameters aimed at enhancing its versatility and tailoring it to individual preferences.
